Academy Players of the Week for the Week of Feb. 22

U-15/16 Player: Nicholas Parianos
Club: Internationals
Position: Forward

Nicholas Parianos extended his scoring streak with another goal in the Internationals’ 1-0 victory against Derby County Wolves on Sunday. He has now scored four goals in six games this season. The forward has been on the Youth National Team radar, participating in a U-14 ID Camp as well as being chosen as a member of an Academy Select team at the 2009 Winter Showcase in Phoenix.

The Internationals are off to a strong start as they head into the bulk of the Academy season this Spring.

U-17/18 Player: Caleb Stanko
Club: Vardar
Position: Midfielder

Caleb Stanko tallied two goals on the weekend including the game winner on Saturday in a 2-1 win against the Internationals and his team’s first goal in a 2-2 tie against Crew Soccer Academy on Sunday. This weekend’s showing increased Stanko’s goal total to three in three games played. The midfielder has been on the Youth National Team radar for some time, participating in a U-14 ID Camp and serving as a member of the U-15 player pool. As a dominant force on the field, Stanko has found himself playing for the older U-17/18 Vardar team, helping them to increase their overall record to 4-0-1.

Only five games into the season, Vardar U-17/18 has started strong, earning a win and a draw in divisional play and winning all three games at the Winter Showcase. They look to further their success in March, when they continue with the remainder of the Academy season.
