U.S. U-17 Men's National Team Finish Madrid Tour with Win Over Rayo Vallecano Academy


MADRID, Spain (Oct. 3, 2013) – The U.S. U-17 Men's National Team capped off its tour of Madrid, Spain, in grand fashion, topping La Liga side Rayo Vallecano's U-16 academy team 4-2 on the strength of a Haji Wright hat trick.

Wright helped the U.S. U-17s build a three-goal lead in the opening 35 minutes, scoring in the 20th and 35th minutes while adding an assist on Alejandro Zendejas' 24th-minute goal, as well. Rayo Vallecano pulled to within one goal with strikes in the 39th and 46th minutes, but Wright added his third goal of the match in the 69th minute to secure the final 4-2 score line in favor of the USA.

With the win, the U.S. U-17 MNT finished its three-match Madrid Tour unbeaten with an overall record of 1-0-2.
