CHICAGO (Wednesday, January 9, 2002) - U.S. Women's National Team defender Brandi Chastain will be a guest on "ABC News Nightline" with Ted Koppel tonight (January 9) at 11:35 p.m. ET / PT as the show focuses on youth sports in the American culture. Koppel and a number of panelists will focus specifically on the current murder trial unfolding in Massachusetts in which a "Hockey Dad" allegedly murdered another "Hockey Dad" during a fight at a team practice.
Chastain, who has coached on the youth and college levels, will talk about her experience as an athlete and coach when it comes to dealing with parents and young fans in the youth sport culture. The panel will also focus more broadly on how behavior at youth sporting events may or may not reflect our society.
The U.S. team and Chastain, who has played 143 times for the USA, will take on Mexico on Saturday, January 12 at Blackbaud Stadium in Charleston, S.C. (live on ESPN 2) at 7 p.m. ET. It will be the first action of 2002 for the U.S. Women.
