Dramatic Final Day Sets U-17/18 Championship Game

DRAMATIC FINAL DAY SETS U-17/18 PLACEMENT GAMES: FC Dallas and Pateadores will square off for the U.S. Soccer Development Academy 2011 U-17/18 Championship Game after winning their respective Finals Week groups. The final is set for Friday, July 15, at 12 p.m. CT live on ESPNU and ESPN3.com. It came down to the wire in both groups, with Pateadores scoring two dramatic goals in the final moments to seal first place ahead of the Dallas Texans. FC Dallas had to keep one eye on the CASL Chelsea FC Academy score and scored four times to insure the team’s tiebreakers to advance.

PATEADORES ADVANCES TO CHAMPIONSHIP
: Pateadores advanced to the U.S. Soccer Development Academy 2011 U-17/18 Championship Game in the U-17/18 division with a dramatic 4-2 win against Players Development Academy, scoring twice in the final two minutes of the game to claim the top spot in Group 1.

TEXANS TOP RED BULLS: The Dallas Texans claimed second place in Group 1 with a 3-0 win against New York Red Bulls, with goals from Brandon Perez, Aaron Simmons and Caleb Richardson. With seven points, the Texans finished agonizingly close to the championship game, but fell just short based on the goals scored tiebreaker.

FC DALLAS WINS GROUP 2: FC Dallas advanced to the U.S. Soccer Development Academy 2011 Under-17/18 Championship Game by defeating Weston FC 4-1 in their last group match and taking Group 2 with seven points. FC Dallas remained strong throughout the entire game, scoring two goals on each side of the half, with the final goal coming in second half stoppage time. Weston FC netted their lone goal in the 64th minute but could not rally to score again.

CASL AND BAYS END IN A DRAW: CASL Chelsea FC Academy and Baltimore Bays Chelsea played to a thrilling 1-1 draw in the final group game at Development Academy Finals Week. An early Cooper Vandermaas-Peeler goal put CASL up 1-0, but the Bays answered in the 29th minute through Michael Gamble. With the draw, CASL Chelsea FC will play July 16 in the third-place match against the Dallas Texans, while Baltimore Bays Chelsea will match up against New York Red Bulls for fifth place.

LAST GROUP MATCHES SET FOR U-15/16S: There are five teams still in the running to qualify for the U.S. Soccer Development Academy 2011 U-15/16 championship game as group play finishes on Thursday afternoon. LA Galaxy and Seattle Sounders FC will meet in a winner-take all Group 1 match at 3 p.m. CT, and PA Classics and North Carolina Fusion are in control of their own destinies when they meet at 6 p.m. CT.
