Hejduk Out, Clark in as Men's National Team Prepares for Costa Rica

SAN JOSÉ, Costa Rica (June 1, 2009) - U.S. Men's National Team defender Frankie Hejduk has been ruled out of Wednesday's match against Costa Rica as he continues to recover from a strained groin. The veteran of four World Cup cycles is targeting a return to action for the June 6 game against Honduras in Chicago.

Meantime, U.S. head coach Bob Bradley has summoned Houston Dynamo midfielder Ricardo Clark to Costa Rica. Clark has collected 18 caps for the full team, including four appearances in World Cup qualifying. The 26-year-old will board a flight from Houston at 9 a.m. tomorrow morning. Clark becomes the seventh player on the U.S. roster who was part of the team's last visit to Estadio Ricardo Saprissa in 2005.
