U.S. U-20 MNT Falls 2-1 to Chile in Santiago

SANTIAGO, Chile (June 12, 2012) – The U.S. U-20 Men’s National Team fell 2-1 to Chile at Estadio Santa Laura in the final match of the team’s three matches during a 12-day trip to South America.

Chile’s Nicolas Castillo opened the scoring inside the first 20 minutes, finding space behind the U.S. defense on a free kick and connecting on a header to the low right corner of the goal.

Castillo doubled the lead for La Roja in the 60th minute finishing a quick break down the right side. Bryan Rabello crossed the ball in from the flank and Castillo chested it down, turned and fired past the goalkeeper.

The U.S. cut the lead in half during second-half stoppage time. Midfielder Benji Joya was taken down in the box during the first minute of second-half stoppage time and Daniel Garcia stepped up to convert the penalty kick.
