U.S. U-20 MNT Draws with Mexico 1-1 to Round Out Torneo de las Americas in Kennesaw, Ga.

KENNESAW, Ga. (Nov. 28, 2010) -- The U.S. U-20 Men's National Team drew with Mexico 1-1 in the final game of the Torneo de las Americas at the KSU Soccer Stadium in Kennesaw, Ga., coming back from a second-half defecit against their CONCACAF rival. It was the second 1-1 draw for the Americans in as many games, and the third tie in the three games of the event after Colombia and Mexico drew last night.

After a scoreless first half, Mexico got on the board first in the 63rd minute after Saul Villalobos ripped a bending shot on goal that Jonathan Kempin did very well to tip off the crossbar. Mexico's Taufic Guarch was the first player to jump on the rebound and scored while Kempin was recovering from his save.

Seven minutes later, the U.S. earned a corner and, looking for the tying goal, had several players in the box. Defender Gale Agbossoumonde was the first person to get his head on it, snapping it into the chest of Mexican goalkeeper Rafael. He was unable to hold onto the ball and Agbossoumonde pounced on his own rebound to level the score.

The tournament called for penalties following the draw, which Mexico won 4-2. Agbossoumonde and Alex Zahavi converted for the U.S.
