U.S. U-20 MNT Draw First Game of Torneo de las Americas in Kennesaw, Ga.


KENNESAW, Ga. (Nov. 26, 2010) -- The U.S. U-20 Men's National Team earned a 1-1 draw with Colombia in the opening match of the Torneo de las Americas in Kennesaw, Ga. Alex Zahavi, playing in his first match with a U.S. team, scored the lone goal for the Americans in stoppage time of the first half. Three minutes into the added time, Tristan Bowen played in a cross from the right side and found Sebastian Lletget, who headed down to the feet of Zahavi, and Zahavi touched it in to give the U.S. the lead.

Late in the second half, as Colombia was pressing for the equalizer, it finally came in the form of a great individual effort from Fabian Castillo. He received the ball near the top of the penalty area, dribbled through three defenders and slotted it past U.S. 'keeper Jonathan Kempin. Kempin, who earned his first cap at the U-20 level against Colombia, made six saves on the night.

The Torneo de las Americas, a three-team round robin tournament, continues Saturday, Nov. 27, when Colombia faces Mexico at 3:30 p.m. ET at Kennesaw State Soccer Stadium. The U.S. is back in action on Sunday, Nov. 28, to close out the tournament against rival Mexico.
