U.S. U-17 Men's National Team Fall to Nigeria

The U.S. Under-17 ’90 Men’s National Team fell to Nigeria this afternoon, 2-1, in their second match of the 8 Nations International Tournament in Changwon, South Korea. The U.S. will finish up Group B play with their third and final match against New Zealand on Thursday, June 21.

The U.S. fell behind in the 11th minute when Oseni Ganiyu Bolaji collected the ball about 30 yards out and split two defenders on the dribble before unleashing a shot from the top of the penalty area into the upper right corner, giving no chance for U.S. goalkeeper Zac MacMath.

After heading into the locker room down a goal, the U.S. regrouped in the second half and found the equalizer in the 49th minute when Alex Nimo tallied from inside the area. Jared Jeffrey slipped the ball into Nimo near the top right corner of the penalty box and the crafty dribbler cut back and then ripped a shot into the lower right corner.

The draw was broken seven minutes later when King Osanga threaded a ball through the U.S. defense to a darting Bolaji and he finished past MacMath.
