U-15/16 Performer of the Week: Alan Harwell
Club: Birmingham United
Position: Forward
Birth Year: 1994

Alan Harwell was a pivotal player in Birmingham United’s matchup with McLean, scoring all three of his team’s goals on Sept. 19. The young player makes his return to the Academy program after a strong showing last season as a 1994 playing up. Harwell has scored goals in each of his team’s wins so far this season after tallying 12 goals in 23 starts during 2009-10.

Birmingham United is off to a strong start with help from Harwell, who has now posted six goals in four games. After starting their season with three wins and a tie, the team will resume Divisional play in October before Conference and Showcase games in November and December.

U-17/18 Performer of the Week: Brandon Perez
Club: Dallas Texans
Birth Year: 1992

In the Dallas Texans opening weekend, Brandon Perez scored four of the five Texans goals to help his team earn a win and a draw against divisional opposition. This weekend’s performance also saw Perez take his place among the leading scorers in the U-17/18 age group early in the season.

The weekend kicked off a crucial stretch of division games for the Dallas Texans that will continue through November before the team breaks for the Winter Showcase. Perez and his teammates will match up against Classics Elite on Sunday for a short home stand before finishing October on the road.
