WHAT’S AHEAD:
U.S. Under-23 MNT Head to Camp:
U.S. Under-23 Men’s National Team head coach Caleb Porter has called 28 players to an eight-day training camp from Dec.15-23 in Lakewood Ranch, Fla. The team, which includes Academy alumni Bill Hamid, Gale Agbossoumonde, Zarek Valentin, Will Bruin and Jack McInerney, will train at the Premier Sports Campus, which recently hosted the 2011 Development Academy Winter Showcase and the Nike International Friendlies.

LAST WEEK’S HIGHLIGHTS:
National Notes:

  • Every team took the field during the 2011 Winter Showcase, playing 234 games over the course of the extended weekend. 
  • Based on their performance during the Academy Select games, 14 players were invited to stay in Bradenton, Fla., for a mini-camp with the U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team.

ACADEMY ALUMNI NEWS AND NOTES:
Alumni Travel to the Netherlands:
Several Academy alumni, including Will Bruin, Zarek Valentin, Sacir Hot and Luis Gil traveled to the Netherlands with an MLS Select team for a series of friendly matches. The team dropped its first game against the Ajax Reserve team, and will next face FC Volendam on Dec. 13 and Almere City FC one day later.

Agudelo Training at Liverpool: U.S. Men’s National Team forward and Academy alumnus Juan Agudelo joins several U.S. international training overseas during the MLS offseason. Agudelo headed to England after training at VfB Stuttgart, joining former De Anza Force and U-17 MNT midfielder Marc Pelosi at Liverpool for a training stint.
