Mankamyer Elected Secretary of USOC
CHICAGO (Monday, February 12, 2001) - Last December, long-standing U.S. Soccer representative to the USOC, Marty Mankamyer, was elected as Secretary of the United States Olympic Committee. Mankamyer will serve a four-year term and will resign her position immediately as U.S. Soccer's representative to the USOC.
"This is a great honor for Marty, who has served all of us well in her capacity as a member of U.S. Soccer's Board of Directors," said Dr. Bob Contiguglia, President of U.S. Soccer. "We all know that Marty will continue to serve the sport of soccer in her new capacity at the USOC. I know that everyone joins with me in wishing Marty the best of luck in her new endeavor, and we all look forward to our continued working relationship with her."
Mankamyer, a resident of Colorado Springs, Colo., where the USOC is based, has worked in the sport of soccer at all levels for the better part of the last 20 years.
