FRISCO, Texas – Today marks the start of matches in the U-17/18 age group at the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Playoffs at the FC Dallas Stadium Complex in Frisco with 16 games on the schedule.

Academy Showcase games take the lead beginning at 4 p.m. CT, followed by Academy Playoffs games running from 6 to 8:30 p.m. CT. Listed below is a run-down of all of today’s scheduled Academy Playoffs matches.

Defending U-17/18 Development Academy champion Pateadores kicks off its title defense in Group 2 of the tournament. The California-based club earned a wild card berth in the Academy Playoffs after finishing the regular season in fourth place in the SoCal Division.

Here are some of the notable matches on Day 1 of U-17/18 action:

Vancouver Whitecaps FC vs. Pateadores, 6 p.m. CT: Vancouver won the Northwest Division and opens the tournament against the 2010-11 U-17/18 champion Pateadores, which enters this year’s event as a wild card team from the talented SoCal Division.

New York Red Bulls vs. New England Revolution, 8 p.m. CT: The lone matchup between MLS-affiliated teams on Monday features a pair of top East Conference teams. The Red Bulls won the Liberty Division at 9-1-0, and the Revolution took second in the Northeast Division at 6-3-1.

FC Dallas vs. McLean Youth Soccer, 8 p.m. CT: FC Dallas, the 2010-11 U-17/18 runners-up, will be looking to get back to the title game at Finals Week in Houston. The first step toward that goal starts tonight against McLean Youth Soccer. The local boys finished the regular season with as winners of the Texas Division with a record of 20-3-1.
