Academy Players of the Week for the Week of Feb. 15

U-15/16 Player: Andrew Coughlin
Club: Empire United
Position: Goalkeeper

Andrew Coughlin helped his team to a 2-0 victory against Oakwood SC this past weekend. In addition to a number of fine saves, his key stops on a breakaway and penalty kick kept the scoreline intact and helped Empire United to the win.

With a strong early start, the team is currently 2-0-0 in their division and 3-1-2 overall. Divisional opponents Seacoast United and BW Gottschee NYC will travel to Empire United for the remainder of the team’s February home stand.

U-17/18 Player: Ruben Valencia
Club: LA Galaxy
Position: Forward

Ruben Valencia scored 2 goals in the Galaxy's 4-1 victory against Pateadores on Saturday. The latest two goals place him as the leading scorer on the team with 5 in twelve games. He is the only player on the team that has scored a goal in each month of Academy play, October through February.

The LA Galaxy are in first place in their division and continue their Academy schedule against divisional rivals over the next month of play.
