Mayen to Replace Wallace on U-20 MNT World Cup Roster
CHICAGO (Sept. 11, 2009) -- Chivas USA midfielder Gerson Mayen has been called in to replace defender Anthony Wallace, who has suffered a torn miniscus, on the U.S. roster for the upcoming FIFA U-20 World Cup in Egypt.
Mayen was part of the team's most recent training camp in Rosario, Argentina, and has five international appearances under Rongen. He was also with the team during the Campos Verdes International Tournament in Portugal and a domestic training camp in Sunrise, Fla., in 2008.
He has made 11 appearances and four starts for Chivas USA in 2009, contributing four assists in his first year playing with the first team.
