U.S. Paralympic Soccer Team Set for Two May Camps
CHICAGO (April 26, 2012) – U.S. Paralympic National Team head coach Jay Hoffman has named squads for the Ukraine International Tournament in Yevpatoriya, Ukraine, from May 1-10 and the BT World Cup in Manchester, England, from May 19-27.
U.S. Ukraine International Tournament Roster by Position:
GOALKEEPERS (2): 1-Keith Johnson, 18-Alex Hendricks
DEFENDERS (3): 11-Tyler Bennett, 5-Bryce Boarman, 3-Gavin Sibayan
MIDFIELDERS (6): 7-Adam Ballou, 4-Chad Jones, 9-Josh McKinney, 2-Rene Renteria, 10-Marthell Vazquez, 6-Jerreme Wade

Hoffman named separate squads for each trip, which will serve as preparation for the 2012 Paralympic Games, which will take place Sept. 1-9 in London. The international tournament in the Ukraine is the last chance for U.S. players to get certified in an official competition. The U.S. will place May 4, 5 and 6, against opponents yet to be named.
The BT World Cup in Manchester will feature a 12-player roster. After the tournament, the team will hold camps in Chula Vista, Calif., in June and July before heading to London.
U.S. Paralympic Team Roster Notes:
- All players must receive certification of their playing status in an official Paralympic soccer event to be eligible for the Paralympic Games.
- Paralympic soccer is played seven-a-side on a smaller field and with smaller goals than non-disabled soccer. Each team plays with seven men using the International Federation of Associated Football (FIFA) rules, which have been slightly modified to accommodate the disabilities of the athletes.
- To be eligible for Paralympic soccer, athletes must be ambulatory and have a diagnosis of non-progressive brain damage that is associated with motor control dysfunction such as Cerebral Palsy, traumatic brain injury or stroke.
