Under-18 Men's National Team Reach Top of Group with Win

CHICAGO (May 21, 2013) – The U.S. Under-18 Men’s National Team has turned in an impressive showing at the 19th annual Lisbon International Tournament, reaching the top of its group by defeating the Czech Republic by a 3-0 score.

Romain Gall easily won man of the match honors for the U-18s as he tallied once on either side of halftime and added an assist in the 35th minute. Gall got the scoring started in the 16th minute after taking a touch on a ball in the middle of the box before curling it into the upper right corner. Nearly twenty minutes later, Gall helped the U.S. double its lead as he played a through ball from the center circle into Rubio Rubin who calmly slotted it home to the lower left corner.

Gall made it 3-0 when Paul Arriola’s shot deflected right into his path and he smashed it into the open net.

The U-18s will next play Portugal in group play on Thursday, May 23.
