Under-21 Women Again Play to 3-3 Draw in WUSA Preseason Action; Abby Wambach Nets Two vs. Carolina Courage

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (Wednesday, March 28, 2001) - Wen Lirong scored on a penalty kick in the 58th minute of play to rally the Carolina Courage to a 3-3 tie with the U.S. Under-21 team. The teams traded goals throughout the opening half, but the U.S. was held scoreless in the second half by the Courage.

The Courage got on the board first on a goal by Mikka Hansen in the 13th minute of play. Abby Wambach knotted things up for the U.S. in the 19th minute of play. Beth Keller scored in the 21st minute to put Carolina back on top before Betsy Barr tied things up for the U.S. in the 26th minute of action Wambach then scored her second goal of the game in the 39th minute to give her team a 3-2 lead.

The lone second-half goal came in the 58th minute of play when China's Wen Lirong powered through her penalty kick.
