SUNDHAGE NAMES 29 PLAYERS FOR FLORIDA TRAINING CAMP: U.S. Women’s National Team head coach Pia Sundhage named a roster of 29 players for a training camp that will take place in West Palm Beach, Fla., from April 18-May 6. The camp will be a key period for the U.S. players and Sundhage as she enters the stretch run of her evaluation process to choose a 21-player roster to represent the United States at the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Germany this summer.

U.S. U-20 MNT FALLS TO GUATEMALA IN CONCACAF CHAMPIONSHIP QUARTERFINALS: The U.S. Under-20 Men's National Team missed out on an eighth-consecutive FIFA U-20 World Cup after losing 2-1 to Guatemala on Wednesday night. Conor Doyle scored the USA's lone goal, but that was not enough to spark a come-from-behind win against a spirited Guatemala team spurred on by a partisan home crowd in the Central American nation's capital.

U.S. U-18 MNT ROSTER SET FOR TRAINING CAMP IN PORTLAND: U.S. Under-18 Men’s National Team head coach Mike Matkovich has named 24 players who will train in Portland, Ore., from April 16-24, on the Nike Campus. The training camp will feature friendlies against the Portland Timbers on April 19, and will finish with a pair of friendlies on Saturday, April 23, against the University of Portland and the University of Washington. Two players on the roster will come from the professional ranks, with Victor Pineda representing the Chicago Fire and Jon Kempin representing Sporting Kansas City. Both players signed Home Grown player contracts with their respective clubs after spending time in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy. A third Academy alumnus, Walker Zimmerman, currently plays at Furman University, while 20 other players are current Academy players representing 17 different clubs.

U.S. U-20 WNT COMES TO THE HDC FOR TRAINING CAMP: The U.S. U-20 Women’s National Team will come together for a training camp at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., running from April 23-30. The U-20s are still very early in their preparations for qualifying for the 2012 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup to be held in Uzbekistan. U.S. Soccer Technical Director April Heinrichs has called in 26 players, 11 of them in college.

U.S. SOCCER COACHING SYMPOSIUM IN COLUMBUS, OHIO IN CONJUNCTION WITH U.S. WNT MATCH AGAINST JAPAN: U.S. Soccer’s Coaching Education Department will conduct a coaching symposium on May 13-14, 2011, in conjunction with the U.S. Women’s National Team’s match against Japan on May 14 in Columbus, Ohio. The game, which will be played at Crew Stadium, home to the Columbus Crew of Major League Soccer, will be the first of two games against Japan in May. NATIONAL COACHING SCHOOLS AND “C” RETEST LOCATIONS UPDATED: U.S. Soccer’s Coaching Department will conduct National Coaching Schools in April and June for “A” Audit, “A”, “B” and “C” Courses in California, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts and Washington. FIFA ACCEPTING CREDENTIAL APPLICATIONS FOR 2011 FIFA WOMEN’S WORLD CUP UNTIL MAY 1: FIFA has announced that the media accreditation process for the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup Germany is now open on the FIFA Media Channel. The deadline for media to request accreditation is May 1. All media requesting accreditation for the tournament must be an approved member of the FIFA Media Channel. MARQUEE MATCHUP: The second legs of the UEFA Champions League Quarterfinals take center stage this week. With three of the four first legs being high-scoring affairs, most eyes will be on the all-English encounter of Manchester United and Chelsea.
