U.S. U-20 WNT Set to Face Mexico in Semifinals of CONCACAF U-20 Women's Championship


TICKET TO JAPAN ON THE LINE: The U.S. Under-20 Women’s National Team advanced to the semifinals of the 2012 CONCACAF U-20 Women’s Championship in first place of Group B with three identical 6-0 wins in group play. The U.S. will face Mexico at 5 p.m. ET on Friday in the first semifinal match of the evening. ROSTER NOTES

  • Lindsey Horan scored a hat trick against Guatemala, and Katie Stengel had one goal against Guatemala and two against Cuba.
  • Nine different players have scored for the U.S. in the first three games of the tournament; Maya Hayes leads the team with four, Stengel and Horan have three, Vanessa DiBernardo and Julie Johnston have scored two and Micaela Capelle, Samantha Mewis and Cari Roccaro each have one.
  • Crystal Dunn, Hayes and Mewis are the three carryovers from the 2010 CONCACAF U-20 Women’s Championship.

CANADA, MEXICO ADVANCE FROM GROUP A: Canada and Mexico advanced easily out of Group A with two victories after their first two matches before facing each other in the final group game. Canada won by the narrowest of margins with a goal from Vanessa Legault. Canada will face off in the second semifinal against host Panama, who advanced out of Group B in second place. The match will kick off at 8 p.m. ET and will be streamed live via CONCACAF.com.
