Academy Players of the Week for the Week of March 29

Nicholas Gaitan
Club: Albertson SC
Position: Midfield

Nicholas Gaitan, a U-15 Boys' National Team pool player, has performed well as one of the younger players on the U-15/16 Albertson SC team. He has started strong this season, appearing in eight of eleven games and scoring his first goal of the season in 1-1 draw on Sunday against FC Westchester. The tie secured another important point for the team as they look to overtake division-leading BW Gottschee NYC.

With plenty of division and conference games left this season, Albertson will look to continue positive results and gain an automatic qualification for the 2010 Playoffs.

Stephan Baker
Club: Empire United
Position: Forward

Stephan Baker scored the game winner in a 2-1 victory over Match Fit Chelsea on Saturday. He now has 13 goals in 14 games this season and has risen to sixth place in the Top 10 Leading Scorers list for the U-17/18 age group. The six-foot forward has scored in eight different games this season and has recorded a three game goal-scoring streak at the Winter Showcase in December 2009.

Empire United will hit the road for the better part of April, visiting conference opponents Potomac Academy and D.C. United, followed by a trip to divisional opponents New England Revolution and FC Greater Boston.
