Broadcast Schedule for U-17 World Championship Set


CHICAGO (Monday, November 8, 1999) - The broadcast schedule for the U.S. Under-17 National Team competing in the FIFA U-17 World Championship in New Zealand beginning Nov. 10 has been solidified for Fox Sports World and pay-per-view audiences on the DISH Network. Innovative Sports Marketing acquired the broadcast rights, in conjunction with Nike and U.S. Soccer, and is airing the tournament in the United States for the first time. As part of the 17-game broadcast package, every U.S. match will be featured live on the DISH Network via pay-per-view as the team goes for gold in New Zealand. The entire broadcast package, whish also includes complete coverage of the Brazilian and Mexican U-17 National Teams, can be ordered through the DISH Network by calling 800/333-DISH. The live broadcast schedule will also be available to C-band satellite television owners via pay-per-view by calling 800/444-DISH. Fox Sports World will air the games on a tape-delay basis beginning Nov. 15. The 16-team tournament kicks off in Auckland on Wednesday (late Tuesday night in the USA) with the USA facing host nation New Zealand. The U.S. U-17s will continue group play against UEFA runners-up Poland on Nov. 13 and youth powerhouse Uruguay on Nov. 16.
