U.S. Soccer Offers Coaching Forum Centered Around U.S. Under-18

As part of a continued effort to offer coaches valuable, new educational opportunities, U.S. Soccer is hosting a coaching forum centered around the United States Under-18 Men’s National Team’s training camp in Chula Vista, Calif., from April 30 – May 3.

The U.S. Under-18 Men’s National Team will spend eight days in Chula Vista preparing for a foreign trip to France on May 15 and will play three games while in camp, including a match against the University of California – Berkeley on May 3.

For four days, beginning on April 30, coaches will be able to spend time observing the training sessions and games of the U.S. Under-18 Men’s National Team.  Each morning, the coaches will meet with the Under-18 coaching staff to discuss the goals of that day’s training sessions, review the work of the previous day and to talk about the upcoming matches. Coaches will then have the opportunity to watch the training sessions and interact with the coaching staff through a series of daily discussions designed to provide a window into one of U.S. Soccer’s youth national teams.

“This is a rare opportunity for coaches to get an inside look at one our top Youth National Teams as they prepare for a tournament in Europe,” said U.S. Soccer’s Men’s National Staff Coach Carlos Menjivar.  “It is a tremendous asset to be able to offer such an invaluable experience to our coaches.”

The four-day coaching forum includes the chance to watch U.S. Under-18 Men’s National Team in matches on May 1 and May 3.  Following each match, the coaches will meet with the U.S. Under-18 MNT staff to discuss the staff’s thoughts about the game and what was learned.

"A" licensed coaches will receive one-half of a Continuing Education Unit (CEU) for each day attended of the four-day coaching forum.  Registration is limited to 30 coaches on a first-come basis.  To register for the forum or for any questions, please send an email to U.S. Soccer’s Men’s National Staff Coach, Carlos Menjivar, at  In the email, coaches are asked to specify which days of the forum they will attend.  The registration fee is $25 for coaches who wish to earn CEUs.
