FIFA Makes Additional Schedule Changes Due to Typhoon Wipha
SHANGHAI, China (Sept. 19, 2007) - FIFA has announced a second set of schedule changes at the FIFA Women’s World Cup due to the effects of Typhoon Wipha, and now each of the Group C and Group D finales will be played on Thursday, Sept. 20.
The latest change moves the Sept. 19 matches in Chengdu and Tianjin to Sept. 20, pushing each game back 24 hours and making the final games for each group occur concurrently, as planned on the original FIFA schedule. Australia and Canada will face off at 5 p.m. local time in Chengdu, while China hosts New Zealand in Tianjin at 8 p.m. local time.
Yesterday, FIFA announced that the Sept. 19 matches in Shanghai and Hangzhou have been postponed and both will played on Sept. 20 in Hangzhou.
The Norway vs. Ghana Group C match moves from Shanghai to Hangzhou and will now kick off at 5 p.m. local time on Sept. 20. The Brazil vs. Denmark Group D match was postponed 24 hours and will now be played at 8 p.m. as part of a double-header in Hangzhou.
