Beasley Joins Manchester City on Loan from PSV
CHICAGO (August 31, 2006) - U.S. MNT midfielder DaMarcus Beasley will join Manchester City of the English Premier League, the club's web site reported on Thursday.
The club, home to recently retired U.S. captain Claudio Reyna, has arranged a season-long loan deal with PSV Eindhoven, where Beasley has played since 2004. The 24-year-old helped PSV reach the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League in 2005.
Beasley has appeared 57 times for the U.S. with 12 goals, and was also featured in all three games for the U.S. at the 2006 FIFA World Cup with two starts. He assisted on Clint Dempsey's goal in the group finale vs. Ghana.
According to the City web site, Beasley will be introduced to the media at the team's training complex in Carrington, England, next week.
Next up on the schedule for the Blues is a Sept. 11 league game at Reading, where Beasley will have a chance to suit up against U.S. teammates Bobby Convey and Marcus Hahnemann.
