"Best Of U.S. Soccer" Awards to Return for Second Year with Nominating Period in Select Categories to Begin Soon
They're back!!! After the success of the long overdue "Best of U.S. Soccer" awards in 2002, U.S. Soccer will again be recognizing the best in all things American soccer this fall with ten more awards for 2003, including Best Soccer Stadium, Best U.S. Crowd and Best U.S. Goal.
For the first time, fans will have a chance to log on to ussoccer.com and nominate their favorites for Best Soccer Bar and Best Soccer Retail Store, two awards that are wide open this time around. Nominations will be accepted online from Sept. 30 until early November, at which time U.S. Soccer will choose the top 10 finalists for the two national honors and open the polls.
Fans will then have the entire month of November to stack the vote online. In December comes the grand finale, when U.S. Soccer begins voting for it's annual year-end individual player awards -- the Chevy Athletes of the Year -- won last year by Shannon MacMillan and Brad Friedel.
