Academy Players of the Week for the Week of May 3

Kevin Alva
Club: Pateadores
Position: Center Back

Kevin Alva helped his side begin the month of May on the right foot by defeating LAFC Chelsea 2-1 at home. Deployed as a center back in the Pateadores' defense, Alva was the driving force behind a tight, organized back line that was under pressure for the entire game.

Pateadores do not have to travel far throughout the next month as they play a number of matches within the friendly confines of their home facility. Their final away match takes place next weekend as the team travels to local Southern California club, LAFC Chelsea, in hopes of picking up three points once again.

Marvin Iraheta
Position: Central Midfield
Club: LAFC Chelsea

Marvin Iraheta has consistently demonstrated his importance to LAFC Chelsea and played a vital role in his team’s 6-2 victory over the Pateadores last weekend. A strong ball winner and a presence in the air, Iraheta was utilized in the heart of the midfield to break up the opposition’s attacks and retain possession for his side.

LAFC Chelsea has a difficult road ahead to qualify for the Playoffs, but with recent results, they may find themselves in the picture come the end of the month. With four of their remaining five matches within the So Cal Division, LAFC Chelsea is in control of their post-season aspirations.
