Robbie Rogers Added to U.S. Roster for Match Against Mexico on Aug. 10 in Philadelphia

Columbus Crew Midfielder Replaces Maurice Edu and Will Join Team Sunday

CHICAGO (Aug. 7, 2011) — U.S. Men’s National Team head coach Jurgen Klinsmann has added Robbie Rogers to the roster for the match against regional rival Mexico on Aug. 10 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. Rogers replaces Maurice Edu, who suffered a left calf strain Aug. 6 in the first half of Rangers friendly against Chelsea.

Rogers, who was named to the 30-man preliminary roster for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, enjoyed a memorable debut year with the Men’s National Team in 2009 when he earned his first appearance (Jan. 24), first goal (July 4), and finally his first cap in World Cup qualifying (Oct. 14). The speedy winger tallied three assists as well, most memorably when he supplied the corner for Jonathan Bornstein’s stoppage time header against Costa Rica at RFK Stadium.

Mexico has announced a 20-player roster that includes 10 of the starters from their victory in the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup final, including goalscorers Pablo Barrera, Andres Guardado and Giovani dos Santos.

Tickets starting at $38 are on sale through, by phone at 1-800-745-3000, and at all Ticketmaster ticket centers throughout the Delaware Valley (including Walmart and Boscov’s) and the Lincoln Financial Field ticket office (open Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.). Groups of 30 or more can obtain an order form at or call 312-528-1290.
At the stadium U.S. Soccer will continue to implement the Respect Campaign, which was launched in 2011 and includes a number of initiatives to enhance the game experience, particularly in the areas of customer service and fan-friendly behavior. U.S. Soccer is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for fans to enjoy the special atmosphere at these matches.
