Academy Referee of the Week for the Week of May 10

Referee of the Week: Alain Chautard
Hometown: Mount Laurel, N.J.
Grade: 5

Alain Chautard is the Development Academy Referee of the Week for his performance on May 1 in a match between Mid-Atlantic Divisional opponents Match Fit Chelsea and PA Classics.

Chautard, a former French national referee, began his career at the young age of 14. While in his home country, he officiated in the Championnat de France Amateur, the fourth tier in the Ligue de Football Professionnel, the French professional league. Since coming to the United States two and half years ago, Chautard has officiated over a dozen matches in the Development Academy and officiates in the USL, PDL and W-League.

“One of the very first things I did was register as a USSF referee,” Chautard writes about moving from France to the United States. “Soccer is my passion and refereeing is my way of living it every weekend. Thanks to refereeing, I can be a part of interesting and competitive games like those in the Development Academy.”
