NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 18, 2006) – U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team Manager Bruce Arena will be joined by Tennessee Titans Executive Vice President Don MacLachlan and Nashville Mayor Bill Purcell at a press conference at The Coliseum on Wednesday (April 19) at 1 p.m.
The press conference comes just more than one month before the United States takes on Morocco in the first of three Send-Off Series matches prior to the team’s departure for the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany. The match, presented by Budweiser, kicks off at The Coliseum at 6 p.m. CT on Tuesday, May 23, and will be broadcast live on ESPN2.
The Coliseum is one of just three venues hand-picked by U.S. Soccer to host a Send-Off Series match. This will be the first match for the U.S. Men’s National Team in Nashville and the State of Tennessee.
Arena will announce his 23-man World Cup roster on May 2, live on SportsCenter at 6 p.m. ET. The team will assemble beginning May 10 in Cary, N.C., before embarking on the three game Send-Off Series. The other matches will be played on May 26 in Cleveland, Ohio, vs. Venezuela and May 28 in East Hartford, Conn., vs. Latvia. The U.S. will depart for Germany on June 1 before opening the tournament on June 12 vs. Czech Republic.
