TOP FIVE FROM FINALS WEEK: Along with results, there were a lot of other storylines that developed throughout the event. From a geographpic twist to this year’s winners to a breakdown of the goalscoring numbers and more, has the top five things to take away from Finals Week.

TITLE GAME: Three unanswered goals from William Raygoza, Justin Dhillon and Drew Murphy broke the game open in the final 20 minutes as the LA Galaxy defeated PA Classics 4-1 to win the 2011 Development Academy U-15/16 Championship. Sean Dhillon put the Galaxy ahead after two minutes and they led at the interval, but PA Classics answered five minutes into the second stanza off a goal from Kyle Bitterman to set up an open and entertaining final half hour of attacking soccer. LA Galaxy win the championship in their first visit to the final, and become the second team from Southern California to go home with a trophy from this Finals Week as Pateadores won the U-17/18 age group.

RSL AZ TAKES THIRD PLACE WITH PK SHOOTOUT WIN AGAINST REAL SO CAL: Real Salt Lake AZ won third place in the U-15/16 age group of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy 2011 Finals Week in a dramatic 8-7 penalty kick shootout against Real So Cal. After ending the game scoreless, Man of the Match Isaias Juarez netted the clinching penalty after Real So Cal's Cory Miller sent his shot over the crossbar in the eighth round of kicks. 

SOUNDERS SECURE FIFTH PLACE WITH 2-1 WIN AGAINST FUSION: Seattle Sounders FC scored on either side of halftime en route to earning a 2-0 shutout against North Carolina Fusion. Chad Radulovich and Michael Steele scored as Sounders secured a fifth-place finish at Finals Week following their first season in the Development Academy.

TEXANS WIN BATTLE FOR SEVENTH AGAINST CASL: The Dallas Texans claimed seventh place with a 3-1 victory against CASL Chelsea FC Academy. Andre Reyes earned Man of the Match honors with an assist on the game-winning goal and later added a 50-yard strike of his own to give his club a two-goal lead. Brandon Aubrey netted the winner in the 15th minute, three minutes after Christian Soldat opened the scoring. Yanni Hachem tallied the lone goal for CASL in the 16th minute.

FORMER PRO PLAYERS TURN FOCUS TO PLAYER DEVELOPMENT: Former professional players are getting involved one on of the most crucial aspects of the sport in youth player development, and their influence was evident here during Finals Week. sat down with two former U.S. captains in Claudio Reyna and Thomas Dooley, along with Chris Klein and Oscar Pareja, to discuss the value of this contribution.
