One Development Academy newcomer and one established Academy program clinched spots for the 2013-14 Development Academy Playoffs over this past April 26-27 weekend.
First-season Bethesda-Olney and its U-17/18 team and the FC Dallas U-15/16s both earned postseason berths.
Bethesda-Olney is in the midst of an impressive opening season by becoming the second U-17/18 team and the first new club to advance to this year’s Playoffs. Players Development Academy clinched a spot two weeks earlier.
Bethesda-Olney is currently leading the Atlantic Division with an impressive 16-2-0 record. Offensively, Bethesda-Olney is averaging 3.2 goals per game. A trio of players has driven the bulk of the goal scoring: Jeremy Ebobisse Ebolo (17), Matthew Ledder (15) and Sam Schmidt (11). The defense has allowed only 15 goals in 18 games (0.8 per game). Matthew Pilkington is the team’s head coach.
FC Dallas is the third U-15/16 team to advance to the 2013-14 Academy Playoffs after the LA Galaxy and Real Salt Lake AZ earned spots two weeks prior. This marks the sixth consecutive time the FC Dallas U-15/16s have qualified for the Academy Playoffs.
FC Dallas currently leads the Frontier Division with a 14-2-6 record and 2.18 points per game and a commanding presence on both sides of the ball. FC Dallas averages 2.3 goals per game while yielding a 0.8 clip. FC Dallas is in the midst of a 10-game unbeaten streak (5-0-5) under the guidance of head coach Francisco Molina.
The 2013-14 Academy Playoffs take place June 23-27 at Grand Park in Westfield, Ind.
