Mewis Sisters Revisited

The day after U.S. Under-23 and UCLA midfielder Samantha Mewis won an NCAA title with the Bruins in Cary, N.C., older sister and U.S. WNT defender/midfielder Kristie Mewis had an afternoon off from training camp in Los Angeles and traveled to campus to see her sister, who flew back early in the a.m. to take her last final exam. The sisters from Boston are the most successful siblings in U.S. WNT history, having played together at the 2008 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in New Zealand and the 2010 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Germany. Sam won a U-20 Women’s World Cup in 2012 while Kristie has played 10 times with the senior side while scoring one goal so far, that coming in her hometown last June.
