RALEIGH, North Carolina (May 21, 2014) – The U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team lost a friendly match 2-1 against NASL club Carolina RailHawks on Tuesday night in the first of three games scheduled during its current domestic training camp on the campus of North Carolina State University.
After the professional club, fielding a mixture of first team and reserve players, went ahead 2-0 through Aaron King’s mid-field chip over U-20s goalkeeper Evan Louro in the first half and Leo Osaki’s headed goal midway through the second, the U.S. struck back through Ian Harkes. Conor Donovan, who is currently registered with the RailHawks Academy but is in camp with the U-20s, provided the assist on Harkes’ goal in the 69th minute.
The U-20 MNT’s next match comes against the RailHawks U-23’s on Thursday evening at WakeMed Soccer Park. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. ET and the game is free to the public.
The U-20s will conclude camp on Saturday with a match against USL PRO side Wilmington Hammerheads FC.The Match Report for this game will be available shortly.
