U.S. Beach Soccer to Play Brazil in First Nationally-Televised Beach Soccer Match
Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino U.S. vs. Brazil Beach Soccer Challenge in Hollywood, Florida, on Aug. 14 Open to the Public
CHICAGO (July 9, 2014) – The U.S. Beach Soccer National Team and top-ranked FIFA beach soccer team Brazil will square off in the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino U.S. vs. Brazil Beach Soccer Challenge on Aug. 14, at 8 p.m. ET at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
The event will mark the first nationally-televised beach soccer event to be held in the United States. The match will be broadcast nationally on NBC Sports Network on Tuesday, Sept. 9, from 7-8 p.m. ET. Following the initial telecast, there will be a rebroadcast of the match on NBC Sports Network on Saturday, Sept. 13, from 2-3 p.m. ET. The match will also be televised on FOX Sports in Brazil on Friday, Sept. 12, from 8-9 p.m. BRT.
A unique transformation will turn the Seminole Paradise parking lot into a beach soccer stadium able to accommodate an audience of nearly 1,000 fans. A pre-game party will take place starting at 6 p.m. featuring live entertainment, food and drinks. The event is free to the general public. Seating in the stadium is based on availability.
The U.S. Beach Soccer National Team is led by captain Francis Faberoff and forward Nick Perera, while Brazil features top striker Bruno Xavier, the recipient of the Golden Ball and Silver Scorer awards at the 2013 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup. The two teams met recently at the Riviera Maya Cup in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, with Brazil emerging victorious in the first game of the tournament for both teams.
The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is the title sponsor and host for the event.
