U.S. Beach Soccer National Team Travels to Japan

CHICAGO (June 17, 2015) – The U.S. Beach Soccer National Team will travel to Okinawa, Japan, from June 17-22 to play a pair of friendly matches against the host nation.

U.S. head coach Eddie Soto has selected a 10-player roster that will play Japan on June 20 and again on June 21 in Okinawa Beach.

The group most recently participated at the 2015 CONCACAF Beach Soccer Championship in El Salvador, where it finished in fourth place in the 16-nation tournament but failed to qualify for the 2015 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.

Eight players from that CONCACAF roster are part of the group traveling to Japan.

DEFENDERS (4): Giovanni Garcia (Miami United; Miami, Fla.), Jason Santos (California Davis; Cardiff by the Sea, Calif.), Shay Spitz (Hong Kong Rangers; Hong Kong, China), Lewie Valentine (US Sand Soccer; Oceanside, Calif.).
FORWARDS (4): Alessandro Canale (UC San Diego; Venice Beach, Calif.), Andrew Feld (University of San Diego; Carlsbad, Calif.), Ryan Futagaki (Chicago Fire; Fountain Valley, Calif.), Jayro Martinez (Cal State LA; Northridge, Calif.).
