The match against No.6-ranked Brazil will be the third of the year for the United States against a team ranked in the world top 10. The U.S. defeated sixth-ranked Netherlands, 4-3, as well as world No. 1 and reigning World Cup Champion Germany 2-1 in June. This will be the 15th time Gillette Stadium has hosted the MNT and second this year, following the team’s 1-0 win against Haiti in the Gold Cup on July 10. Overall, the U.S. is 10-2-2 at the venue.
The United States is preparing for a CONCACAF playoff against Mexico on Oct. 10 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. The match, featuring the Gold Cup Champions from 2013 and 2015, will determine the CONCACAF representative at the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia.
