U-16 BNT Finishes Trip to England

CHICAGO (Feb. 25, 2016) – The U.S. Under-16 Boys’ National Team finished its trip to the United Kingdom after a two-match set with the U-16 England BNT, where the USA drew 1-1 in the first match and fell to England 4-2 two days later.

In the first match, England got on the board first with an unfortunate USA own goal in the eighth minute. The U.S. rallied back and forward Gabe Segal equalized in the 13th minute, leading the USA to a draw.

The second match began the same with England snatching the first goal in the ninth minute. Just before half, England doubled its lead, sending the USA into halftime down 2-0. Minutes after the second half started, Segal grabbed his second goal of the trip. England countered and scored just two minutes later. USA midfielder Marcelo Palomino added to the American’s score with a goal in the 65th minute. In the 80th minute, England sealed the deal with a last second goal to secure the final score line.

This was the first competition for Shuan Tsakiris since being named U-16 BNT head coach in early January.

Tsakiris and the U-16’s will look ahead to their next challenge, the 2016 Delle Nazioni, set to run April 20-May 1 in Gradisca, Italy, where the U.S. U-15 BNT came away tournament champions in 2015.
