Soto Calls 11 to Beach Soccer Pre-Tournament Training Camp

Roster Features Six from February’s 2017 CONCACAF Beach Soccer Championship

CHICAGO (Sept. 27, 2017) – U.S. Beach Soccer National Team head coach Eddie Soto has named an 11-player roster for a domestic training camp in Seal Beach, Calif. ahead of the Visit Puetro Vallarta Cup 2017 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The camp will run from Sept. 28-Oct. 1, while the competition takes place Oct. 22-24.

The roster includes six players who took part in the team’s last major competition, February's 2017 CONCACAF Beach Soccer Championship in Nassau, Bahamas. The team finished fifth, winning its group at the tournament.

Roster by Position:
GOALKEEPERS (2): Juan Cervantes (Los Angeles, Calif.), Christopher Toth (San Matcos, Calif.)
DEFENDERS (4): Christian Blandon (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), Jonathan Greenfield (Cedarburg, Wisc.), Oscar Reyes (Santa Ana, Calif.), Conner Rezende (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.)
FORWARDS (5): Alessandro Canale (Venice, Calif.), Jason Leopoldo (Thousand Oaks, Calif.), David Pena (San Jose, Calif.), Mikel Palmerin (San Diego, Calif.), Nick Perera (Carlsbad, Calif.)

The USA will face off against Colombia, France and host Mexico in the Visit Puerto Vallarta Cup 2017. The tournament marks the return of the beach soccer world tour to Puerto Vallarta after a seven-year absence. It’s a strong field of competition; Mexico has won the CONCACAF Beach Soccer Championship more than any other nation, France won the first FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in 2005 and Colombia represents an up-and-coming squad that climbed to sixth-place in the hotly contested CONMEBOL Beach Soccer Championship earlier this year.
