• Most common non-skin cancer. • Second leading cause of cancer-related death in women (lung cancer). • While more common in women, a small number of men are afflicted every year. • Advances in prevention and treatment through research have driven the breast cancer death rate down since the early 1990’s in spite of the number of diagnosis rate increasing. • A woman has a 1 in 8 chance of developing breast cancer.
