FC Dallas (MLS) 2, OKC Energy FC (USL) 2 (6-5 PKs)
FC Dallas ultimately prevailed 6-5 on penalty kicks despite coughing up a lead late in regulation to the visiting Oklahoma City Energy. The Energy struck first through Jordan Rideout in the 26th minute, but a brace from Carlos Lizarazo before the break gave FC Dallas what looked like the winning edge. However, in the 90th minute, Michael Thomas equalized for the Energy to send the match to extra time and eventually PKs after neither side could find the breakthrough. After trading penalties and a few misses and saves along the way, Colin Bonner finally sent FC Dallas to the Round of 16 by converting in the seventh round of sudden death penalty kicks.
