With possession going back and forth between the Columbus Crew and the Tampa Bay Rowdies, neither team was able to find the back of the net before a weather delay was issued in the 26th minute. The game resumed and Columbus quickly took control as Justin Meram found the back of the net in the 41st minute. Minutes out of halftime, second half sub Ethan Finlay picked out Christian Martinez to take the lead to 2-0 in the 48th minute. Four minutes later, Finlay converted a penalty kick after a foul was issued inside the box, before Marshall Hollingsworth rounded out the scoring scored in the 65th as Columbus eased into the Round of 16.
