Michigan Bucks (PDL) 1, Indy Eleven (NASL) 0
Playing in the comfortable, indoor combines of Ultimate Soccer Arenas, perennial U.S. Open Cup power Michigan Bucks survived an early scare when David Goldsmith rattled an effort off the crossbar before Justin Braun’s follow-up effort was kept out by Drew Shepherd. The Bucks survived that early pressure and got the game’s only goal in the 31st minute when Jordan Snell slipped Francis Atuahene up the right, where the Ghanaian sneaked a near-post effort past Keith Cardona to take a 1-0 halftime lead. On the other side of the break Atuahene nearly doubled the advantage, but saw his breakaway attempt well saved by Cardona. In the end, Indy couldn’t muster an equalizing goal as the Bucks continued their Cupsetting ways with a 1-0 defeat of the Division II side. Michigan advances to the Third Round for the sixth time in club history where they’ll meet Saint Louis FC.
