FC Miami City vs. Miami FC 2

MAY 6 | 7 p.m. ET | Tropical Park Stadium; Miami, Fla.

FC Miami City (PDL) 1, Miami FC 2 (NPSL) 3
Miami FC (2) eased past FC Miami City with a minimum of fuss, despite a solid performance from the home side at Tropical Park Stadium. Tyler Polak picked out Kristpher Tyrpak with only 11 minutes gone on the clock and Don Smart did well to finish off the exchange and put Miami FC, of the NPSL and quarterfinalists from last year’s Open Cup, into an early 1-0 lead. But after 55 minutes, FC Miami City pulled level after some industrious approach work and a cool finish. Parity lasted only three minutes before new signing Dario Suarez drilled a left-footed rocket from outside the box to put Miami FC back in the saddle. Jeff Michaud finished the job in the dying moments of the game with a ferocious strike to the top corner that gave the former North American Soccer League (NASL) side a well-deserved win. Miami FC now move on to face Red Force FC, also of Miami, who are returning for their second U.S. Open Cup in a row.
