Erie Commodores FC (NPSL) 1, Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC (USL) 2
Donning the black and yellow that is synonymous with its city, Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC found the back of the net twice in the first 30 minutes and held off the upset-minded Erie Commondores FC, 2-1, in the Second Round of the 2018 U.S. Open Cup. Thomas Vancaeyezeele got the scoring started just four minutes into the match, heading home a corner from Kevin Kerr. Twenty minutes later, Kerr got a goal of his own when he buried a penalty from the spot. Cam Philpot pulled one back for Erie just before halftime, but the hosts were unable to find the equalizer in the final 45 minutes. Pittsburgh moves on to host FC Cincinnati in the Third Round on Wednesday.
