U-18 WNT Ends 2017 With Camp in San Diego

CHICAGO (Nov. 22, 2017) – The U.S. Under-18 Women’s National Team will finish up its 2017 programming with a training camp at the Elite Athlete Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif., from Nov. 26 to Dec. 3.

U-18 WNT head coach Jaime Frias has called up 24 players, 20 born in 2000, the current age group for the U-18s, three born in 1999 and one born in 1998. Twenty-two players are currently playing youth club soccer while two are in college. Sixteen of the twenty-two youth club players are currently participating in the inaugural season of the U.S. Soccer Girls' Development Academy.

The pair of NCAA players are Texas A&M midfielder Addison McCain, named to the SEC All-Freshman Team last month, and UC Berkeley defender Emily Smith, who played in the 2016 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup and recently earned Pac-12 All-Freshman Team honors.

The camp will complete a 2017 slate for this age group that included international trips to England and Australia as well as four domestic training camps.

U-17 MNT Head Coach John Hackworth Names Preliminary Roster for 2017 Nike Friendlies

CHICAGO (Nov. 21, 2017) – U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team head coach John Hackworth has named a 24-player preliminary roster for the 2017 Men’s Nike International Friendlies in Lakewood Ranch, Fla. that runs from Nov. 29-Dec. 3. From Nov. 24-28 the team will participate in a pre-tournament training camp, giving Hackworth additional opportunities to evaluate players before narrowing the roster down to 20. The four players not selected to the final roster will likely play for their Academy club during the 2017 U.S. Soccer Development Academy Winter Showcase, taking place simultaneously at the Premier Sports Campus, from Nov. 30-Dec. 10.

“To begin the new U-17 cycle with the Nike International Friendlies competing against traditional world powers is a big challenge,” Hackworth said. “However, our staff has evaluated these young men, most recently at the CONCACAF U-15 Championship, and we are all looking forward to the chance to work with this talented group.”
