CHICAGO (Oct. 21, 2013) – The U.S. Soccer Development Academy is holding three U-13/14 events in the upcoming weeks to provide an opportunity for teams to compete against unique opponents while being scouted and evaluated by U.S. Soccer Technical Advisors and the Scouting network.
Starting this Oct. 26-27 weekend, 26 Central teams are headed to the Shelbourne Soccer Complex in Carmel, Ind., for a two-game set.
During the Nov. 16-17 weekend, 28 West-based Academy U-13/14 teams will be competing in two games at U.S. Soccer’s National Training Center in Carson, Calif. Also over this weekend, 44 teams will prepare for a two-game set at BB&T Soccer Park in Advance, N.C., located just southwest of Winston Salem. This event features the full East Conference-based U-13/14 Academy field.
The three events feature the entire 2013-14 Development Academy U-13/14 field, as well as Cincinnati United Premier and Charlotte United, who are not full Academy members but participating as guests of U.S. Soccer. Games are open to the public and free of charge.
The Development Academy launched the U-13/14 age division this fall, and the program is based on the same philosophy as the older Academy age groups, emphasizing more training sessions and playing meaningful games.
