  • Joined U.S. Residency Program in the fall of 2012.
  • Member of the USA’s 2013 CONCACAF U-17 Championship team.
  • Began playing club soccer at HCSA (High Country Soccer Club) and played until he was in eighth grade
  • His sister was playing for Development Academy club NC Fusion, so Jeff asked if he could try out and made the team (2011-2012).
  • Member of US Soccer Development Academy Southeast Region's Starting XI in 2012.
  • After residency and before his senior year of high school, he trained in England with Fulham, Arsenal, and West Ham United FC.
  • His NC Fusion coach, Marc Nichols, became an academy coach for the Seattle Sounders, and invited Jeff to train with the team.
  • Played two matches for Virginia his freshman year on their way to the NCAA College Cup Championship.
  • Is one of nine players on the World Cup roster that was not part of the USA’s 2015 CONCACAF U-20 Championship team. His last appearance was on March 29, 2015 in a 1-0 loss to England.


  • Son of Lynn and Paul; has an older sister, Sarah.
  • Full name is Jefferson (not Jeffrey). He is named after his great grandfather (mom’s grandpa).
  • Attended Watauga High School before and after Residency. Graduated early (December 2013) with a 4.25 grade point average.
  • Grandmother on dad’s side was born in Holland, but per international rules Jeff is not eligible to acquire a Dutch passport.
  • Dad attended Davidson College where he played goalkeeper for 3 years and also played basketball for one year 1 year. Mom attended Lenior Community College and NC State where she played volleyball. Sister played goalkeeper at Furman University.
  • Likes communications and media and global studies.
  • Big basketball fan – favorite player is Stephen Curry, who he met once before Curry became a pro.
  • When it comes to movies and television, likes anything created by Aaron Sorkin – West Wing, Newsroom, The Social Network, etc.
