Please share a bit of background about yourself.
I am Chicago native with over 10+ years of HR experience working in the sports Industry. I am currently the Sr. Manager of Talent & Administration for best women’s soccer league in the world, NWSL. People often ask me how I ended up working in sports and I tell them I did not choose sports, sports chose me. I accepted the call and have been loving it ever since. What I love about sports that tells you a bit about me is that sports have a way of bringing people together. I am a people’s person and I love working with people and bringing them together. Outside the world of sports I have my hands full being a wife and mother of two girls. Multitasking is one of my expertise!
What do you love about your current job?
There is never a dull moment! I love being an effective leader working behind the scenes to ensure that Players and Staff are offered the best benefits while also assisting them with their business affairs. I work with a great group of people who are driven and passionate about the game of soccer. We have a great leadership team that welcomes feedback and ideas from all employees. Everyone matters at NWSL and I love that!
When did you realize this job was the right fit for you?
When I saw the impact I had on others. People may forget the hard work you put into something, but they will always remember how you treated them. I interact with people daily and it is so important to me to not only be a resource for them but to make sure I’m treating them with the utmost respect and that I show concern. This is not an act for me, it’s something that has always been instilled in me. Working in Human Resources is what I do best and it is the perfect fit for me.
What skills do you use every day?
Critical Thinking, Communication, Leadership, Empathy, and Sound Judgment.
What is one piece of advice you wished someone had told you before starting this career path?
If you have a passion for it, pursue it at all costs. Sports are dominated by men but one step at a time we as women can level the playing field. Believe that you can not only get a position working in the front office but a position leading the front office. Believe that you can not only become a member of a coaching staff but lead as the head coach.
