Three notes from the first full day of training:
- Short and sharp - Each of the two sessions lasted about 75 minutes. Both began with warmups, small-side exercises to get their feet moving (4 v. 1, 5 v. 2), passing combinations, and eventually bigger games with goalkeepers.
- Size - It's one thing to look at heights and weights on the roster page; it's another to see them in person. From the goalkeepers to the forwards, there ae some physically imposing players.
- Energy - No surprise here. These guys are pumped to be here, and already there is a good spirit amongst the group. Some nerves were evident in first sessions, which made the pace of some of the games frenetic, but those should smooth out once everyone gets settled.
We'll see what day two brings. A little "Inside the Lines", perhaps?
